5. vanilla extract 1/2 tsp

6. Two eggs at room temperature

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.

2. Sift together the all-purpose flour and baking powder in a large mixing bowl and put it aside.

3. To make the room temperature butter soft and creamy, use a stand or hand mixer to whip it until it is smooth and creamy

4. Next, add the sugar and continue to beat the sugar and butter until it is smooth and creamy in texture.

5. While adding each egg, whisk the mixture until smooth and silky in texture for about 3 minutes.

6. Mix in the vanilla essence until well combined.

7. Then, gently incorporate the flour and baking powder into the wet ingredients.

8. For 2 minutes, beat the mixture at high speed until it seems smooth.

9. Pour the batter into an eight × eight square cake pan. 

10. Let the cake cook for 40 minutes.

11. Remove from the oven and let it cool for 10 minutes before slicing into thin slices. Cut the cake into pieces once from the center and then again from the sides. At this time, the rusks will be soft and sticky.

12. Lower the temperature of the oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit.

13. Using a baking tray, lay the slices so that there is some space between them.

14. Place the baking tray in the oven and bake for 10 minutes at 300 degrees Fahrenheit.

15. After 10 minutes, remove the tray from the oven and turn the rusks over to bake its other sides.

16. Place the baking sheet back in the oven and bake for another 10 minutes.

17. After the second bake, each side should be a deep golden brown.

18. Allow the cake rusks to cool fully before removing them from the oven.

19. Rusks will be crunchy and crispy once you allow them to cool. Please keep them in an airtight container to avoid spoiling.
