Microsoft Office 365
In addition to providing students with a web-based email and document management service, GNTC also uses Microsoft Office 365 for student email and OneDrive storage. This service offers students the ability to create and edit documents in the cloud, and enables students to collaborate on projects with others. In addition, students have access to official GNTC documents. If you’d like to receive emails from GNTC, you can sign up for the service through the GNTC website.
The GNTC website will be updated on the first day of class. You can login with your student email address. You will be prompted to enter your username and password, which are your GNTC student email address. You can change your password, but make sure to use upper and lower-case letters, as well as numbers and special characters. Your password should have a minimum of fourteen characters. You should change your password as soon as possible after setting up your account.
OneDrive for business
In addition to email, GNTC faculty and staff are able to save documents and emails to OneDrive, which is free of charge. GNTC uses OneDrive for Business, which is associated with corporate cloud storage from Microsoft. Faculty and staff are able to store and share up to 1 terabyte of files using the service. They can access their OneDrive accounts from anywhere with Internet access. The University of Georgia has extended this service to students and faculty members.
To get started, active GNTC students can sign up for Office 365 ProPlus and OneDrive for business email. Office 365 ProPlus comes with 1TB of OneDrive storage. Students can begin using their GNTC email account immediately after signing up. Student email is a central repository of all official GNTC documents. To ensure security, it is important that you use a strong password. Try using upper and lower-case letters, numbers, and special characters.
wireless network
Students can access their email accounts via the GNTC wireless network on any of the four GNTC campuses. Students will need a username and password to log in to their GNTC email accounts. Students may also access their email accounts when off-campus using the GNTC wireless network. The wireless network is currently available at the Floyd County, Walker County, Gordon County, and Catoosa County campuses. Soon, the Whitfield/Murray County campus will have access to the network as well.
virtual desktop environment
The GNTC Email uses a virtual desktop environment (VDI) on the majority of student workstations. This technology uses state-of-the-art VMWare Horizon software to provide a malware-free workstation environment. Students can access VDI from any location, including off-campus computers. Instructor stations and computer labs have dedicated VDI hardware clients for students to use. In addition, students can log in with any device, including smartphones, tablets, and laptops.
Final Words:
GNTC Email uses Microsoft Office 365 for student email and document management. The service includes standard Office applications and OneDrive for Business. The VDI environment is part of Microsoft’s online portal. Faculty and staff have their own GNTC account. Personal accounts have limited functionality and storage. The GNTC-specific O365 account is required for all student email and document management. This account is separate from the user’s personal account.
